Long walks on peaceful, unspoiled beaches…fishing and kayaking along ancient, cypress-lined rivers…snorkeling, diving and scalloping in crystal clear waters…reeling in a beautiful trophy catch from the Gulf of Mexico’s rich waters… Located in Florida’s Panhandle southwest of Tallahassee, Gulf County consists of some of the most distinctive areas anywhere. Visiting the Forgotten Coast is like venturing back to a simpler time… Come along with us as we take you on a brief tour of the Forgotten Coast and all it has to offer. |
Cape San Blas We’ll start at the southern-most area. A small sliver of paradise, Cape San Blas is a 20-mile long peninsula surrounded by sugar-sand beaches and splendid bay waters. Many distinct single-family homes line the waterfront without obstructing the breathtaking view on either side of the Cape. The majority of the peninsula is occupied by pristine St. Joseph State Park. Investment opportunities on Cape San Blas include single-family homes, townhouse and condominium communities, vacant home sites, vacation rentals and acreage for development. The lack of commercial activity on Cape San Blas makes it a perfect escape for you and your family. |
Indian Pass Adjacent to the Cape is another tiny peninsula, Indian Pass. This picturesque, “Old Florida” community has a nostalgic charm that makes it a true treasure. Heavily wooded dunes and screens of cabbage palms frame the restored beach cottages, newly constructed homes and recently prepared home sites. This community is complemented by another natural wonder – a short boat ride across “The Pass,” is St. Vincent National Wildlife Refuge. Commercial activity is restricted to an inviting campground and public boat ramp at the end of the peninsula. |

Scenic Route The C30A corridor connects Cape San Blas and Indian Pass to northwest Florida’s main artery, U.S. Hwy. 98. Dotted with commercial activity, C30A provides access to the area’s airport, golf course and local marina. |
|
Apalachicola Adjacent to Gulf County’s many investment opportunities is Franklin County and its seat, Apalachicola. Established in 1831 as a primary shipping port for the Gulf of Mexico, Apalachicola has successfully preserved their historic past with a modern, inviting charm. Many of the community’s beautiful homes and cotton warehouses have been transformed into functional commercial spaces. Visitors attracted to the slower, more casual pace can also grab some of the freshest seafood straight off the docks as shrimpers and oystermen haul in the daily catch. Franklin County harvests more than 90% of Florida's oysters and 10% of the oysters consumed in the nation. |

Port St. Joe As the county seat, Port St. Joe is a bustling community that is the hub of business activity in Gulf County. With its quaint shops, restaurants, outdoor parks, hometown banks and state-of-the-art marina, Port St. Joe has a rich historical past with a tourism-based future. Real estate here is comprised primarily of older, smaller homes, but new construction and subdivision developments have been steadily increasing since 2000. |
|
St. Joe Beach and Mexico Beach U.S. Hwy. 98 is flanked by beautiful beaches and charming beach cottages through St. Joe Beach and Mexico Beach just west of Port St. Joe. Several new upscale neighborhoods are currently being built in these areas. One of the most promising among them is WindMark Beach, the jewel of Gulf County, to be carefully developed by St. Joe Towns and Resorts over the next decade. Property values are thriving in these mixed residential and commercially zones areas dominated by single family homes, condominiums and town homes and vacation rental properties. |
|
North Gulf County Farmland, freshwater fishing and Tupelo honey compliment sleepy country living with vast tracts of unpopulated land in northern Gulf County. Wewahitchka is the center of activity surrounded by the Honeyville, Overstreet, Dead Lakes, White City and Howard Creek communities. |
